What is AIHHP?

The Association of Independent Hearing Healthcare Professionals (or AIHHP, pronounced "Ay-hip" ) is a professional association dedicated to promoting excellence within the UK Hearing Care profession.

Our members provide a range of high quality services including hearing assessments, hearing aid provision, hearing protection and other specialised services relating to hearing.

Routine Hearing Checks: How Often?

Hearing should be checked thoughout adulthood Hearing should be checked routinely throughout life. The Association of Independent Hearing Healthcare Professionals (AIHHP.org) recommend the following as guidelines for adults, although your Hearing Care Professional may advise you differently depending on your own individual circumstances.

Age Range	How often
18 to 45 year olds	Every 5 years
45 to 60 year olds	Every 3 years
60 years plus	Every 2 years

The hidden dangers of purchasing hearing aids online At first glance, the idea of buying hearing aids online off the Internet may seem like a good one, whether its from a website like eBay or an online retailer, especially when they appear to be low cost or budget hearing aids. But unfortunately it's based on a number of important misunderstandings that the online retailer will conveniently neglect to tell you about.

Going private for your hearing system gives you access to a greater range of technology and styles, including modern designs and up-to-date technology. Going private is generally more convenient, enjoys shorter waiting times, is driven by you (the consumer) and not the NHS policy makers.

How do you go about getting hearing aids in the UK?

There are have two main routes you can get hearing aids :-

You can either go to your GP and ask to be put on the NHS waiting list for their free hearing aids.
Or you can go to a private provider of hearing aids.
